Disco Debbie
Debbie is a fun-loving Singaporean Aunty who's tiny. She lives in an old cassette tape player and enjoys dance parties when nobody is home.

01
Character Design
The first step is to gather references and find a baseline for Debbie's overall look and feel. I chose to try out an iconic updo like Rosie Phua from Phua Chu Kang.
02
Movements
Debbie is a very expressive woman, and she uses her actions to appear larger than life. Dynamic poses of her dancing and using her body language are shown here.

03
Setting
Since we needed a live location, I decided to use an easily-accessible location, my kitchen. Debbie's home sits on top of the toaster, and her dance party takes place inside the microwave.
04
Storyboard
Deciding on the location and character means that I can apply both together and form a guide for my animation.

05
Animatic
An animatic shows a clear directive for the final animation before the model and rig are prepared.
06
Model, rig and texture
Producing the character so that I can animate.

07
Filming, tracking and animation
The final animated product for the semester. It was challenging, since I had no prior experience with skinning organic characters. Many of the surfaces in my live scene were reflective as well, so that posed a major challenge for rendering and compositing.
