The Girl and The Fruit
A reckless girl who loves eating red fruits lives in a paradise with edible fruits of all colours, but when the red fruits are all harvested, she goes to extreme lengths to find more.
This project kick-started by BA(Hons) in Animation Art experience, in the first semester of the second year.
01
Process

The Girl has a lot of Southeast Asian inspired elements, without a clear geographical background. I wanted her to be a girl that everyone can relate to, so I used round and cute features, combined with her fiery hair to establish her spunky personality.

She's very mobile and fun as a character to animate. Her youthful energy breathes some life back into my droll life as an animator stuck in a room hunched over my keyboard!
03
Environment
The environment consists of 5 low-poly trees multiplied and arranged randomly. The use of grass, bushes and stones on the ground saved the forest from looking too dull and empty.

05
Final Film
I lied about not doing cutesy concepts again... I'm forever in Cute-Character Land... It was fun to work on this animation, since I got to focus on the story instead of technical complexity.
